STUDY GROUP NEWS

Study Groups are being conducted for members only via ZOOM.

MWI members AND professional speakers present interesting, timely, and thoroughly enjoyable interactive programs, usually twice weekly. Join us for a delightful hour and a half, while we get to visit (noisily) for a few minutes before the presentation. Wink

If you have expertise in an area, or have any presentation that you think would be of interest to our members, please contact Polly Hammer.

Check our calendar weekly for dates and times of those Study Groups marked ZOOM.

IMPORTANT NOTICE RE
STUDY GROUP LOCATIONS

When you make notations in your calendar to attend the various study groups entered on our website calendar, please check carefully for the exact day of the week, place, and time. Several of the facilities we have consistently used in the past have received grants for renovations, and we occasionally use other locations to continue to offer certain study groups. This is an ongoing situation with the libraries and will continue for some time.

We try to alert you where there is a change at each calendar entry, but want to stress that you check carefully so that you go to the right location on the right day and at the correct time.

Unfortunately, this is beyond our control, and we are trying to make it as convenient as possible. Please bear with us as we manage this juggling act, and continue to enjoy the various programs offered.

Marilin Smolin and Estelle Barton
Study Group Vice Presidents

If you are the person who is responsible for the cancellation of a Study Group or MWI event, please send such information to Judy Fischman at jfisch04@gmail.com. She will send a Cancellation notice to the whole membership.  Also, please call Marilin Smolin so she can notify whatever facility is involved.

Marilin Smolin and Estelle Barton need people to lead Book Discussion, and Yiddishkeit. These are two of our most popular Study Groups but the same people can’t do it all.  Please volunteer for one. It isn't painful…HONEST…it’s FUN!!! Guaranteed, you’ll feel special! Contact Us to volunteer.

AFGHANS

Attention: Knitters and crocheters are needed to make afghans for AIDS/HIV patients, children in hospitals undergoing chemotherapy and veterans in various facilities. Also needed: any worsted-weight yarn (whole or started skeins). Contact Mildred Becker for instructions and if you need yarn.

AMERICAN PRESIDENTS

MWI thanks Carol Brier and Carole Metzger for all their efforts in presenting so many wonderful programs on our various presidents, their wives and their families. Over the years we have anticipated and looked forward to learning about the surprise candidates they selected to discuss, and we were never disappointed. However, due to their other MWI commitments, they have stepped down and we are offering members an opportunity to be involved with this study group. Please contact Marilin Smolin or Estelle Barton if you would like to lead this Study Group.

BEGINNER'S BRIDGE
If you would like to learn to play Bridge, please contact Anne Bass to sign up and for directions to her home.

DRAMA
Call Ellen Zipkin for information relating to the plays, locations, directions and to make sure there is room. Limited space.

Holocaust Through The Lens of Literature

The Holocaust study group needs help from our wonderful MWI ladies.  Holocaust survivors are quite old and our group is dedicating our meetings to hearing the stories of survivors or their children.  We wish to applaud their courage.  We need help from our membership to locate the survivors or their children.  If you can help, please contact Carol Brier, Joni Spielberg, or Marcia Truland.

Mah Jongg
If you are interested in learning to play or just want to brush up your skills, please contact Ava Gorkin, Reina Fagin or Pam Cohen to register. New learners are welcome, as well as members who would like a refresher course.

SPANISH
Hola! Como estas? If you would like to learn conversational Spanish and are prepared to make a commitment to attend, please call Reina Fagin. This program will resume if enough members are interested. Leader will give you details and the location in East Meadow. Hasta la vista!
