By the time you read this article, MWI will have had two significant meetings. On May 29, we had our General Meeting. The General Meeting is the time for your board to discuss the future and recap the events of the past.
The Philanthropy Luncheon, whcih was held on June 26th at the Plainview Jewish Center, was, as usual, a great success. This luncheon is the time for all our members to meet the recipients of our annual grants. We have been donors to Hofstra Medical School since its inception and have since added Feinstein's Institute for Women under our Philanthropic Umbrella. Please be aware that this money does not go directly to the school; these grants are awarded to students to support their pursuit of a chosen field. We also support two smaller local charities that rely heavily on private donors for their funding. This year, we chose RISE LIFE SERVICES and The Hagedorn Little Village School.
It is a gratifying moment to meet and listen to the recipients talking about their visions for the future.
Thank you to all our members for making it possible for MWI to continue as an integral part of local institutions that help people in need in real-time, as well as investing in the future of medicine. YOU, THE MEMBERS, are the people who make this possible by supporting our fundraisers and study groups. Thank you!
