The Holocaust Through the Lens of Literature

Time passes, memories fade, people pass on, making it even more urgent to learn about critical periods and events in our Jewish history, especially those that have an impact on our world today.

Marcia Truland has spent many years conducting workshops and teaching children, teachers and adults about the Holocaust. Her study group, The Holocaust Through the Lens of Literature, has evolved from these years of teaching experience and continuous study.

This study group serves as a guided tour through the Holocaust, country by country, using appropriate literature and films, to explore this critical topic. Questions abound: How do the actions of people in different countries compare? Who were the collaborators, perpetrators, and rescuers? How did they become involved? Who were the survivors and how did they accomplish that feat? To help address this issue, we invite survivors to share their experiences.

Participants in our study group read many books, including children's books, which are appropriate for them to share with their children and grandchildren.

All MWI members are welcome to join us. Prior knowledge is not needed.
