Yiddish, a language of the Eastern European Jews, has been lost to the Jews of today. This study group brings this rich language to life again. The group comprises women who are a mixture of those who have been exposed to Yiddish and others who have an interest. We meet the third Wednesday of the month.
We recall Jewish expressions, some of which bring you back to your childhood. We also bring the Jewish culture of the different holidays to light in English and Yiddish. New words and Yiddish songs are part of this study group.
Two highlights of the year are the Chanukah party (music, dance, traditional food) and a luncheon at a Kosher restaurant in July.
